I'll be in town next week to looking for a townhouse to rent, hopefully starting 9/1. It seems to me that my needs will be best met in the Rice-Military area...although I am a bit concerned about the overall noise and rowdiness due to the concentration of bars on Washington.

Is it preferable to be north or south of 1-10 in terms of access to the freeway, safety, convenience, etc??

If you were a DINK couple in your early 40's, would this be an area you'd consider living in? Thanks for your input.

South of I-10. Nothing much on the other side. But it's all okay. Mind if I ask what part of town you will be in, on that incredibly long highway?

Whoa, whoa. They don't count. We know they are there, haha. I was talking about overall area. I will back away slowly. Besides, that's the reason I asked him what part of town he was looking for. Not everyone talks about the Inner Loop when they talk about Houston. Usually it's the suburbs for some reason.

Both sides have there pluses and minuses. If it were me, I'd try and find something close to Memorial Park (south of I-10), but there are lots of nice townhouses north of I-10 in the Heights area that are more affordable and in quieter neighborhoods.

That's a lot of ground to cover. I-10 travels many miles through Houston. The neighborhoods vary on either side as you go along. You might need to be more specific as to the general region you are talking about.
