Did these people pay that much money and move that far into nowhere for some false sense of security that you can do things like this?

They didn't want to build a commuter rail system into the burbs (in part) because they were so worried about criminals from *The Big Dangerous City* making their way to K-B Homes territory. And so they built more tollways. And the crime is spreading anyway. And it's not like they just started breaking into cars in the burbs last week. The Chron is always the last to tell you about it.
I just read this story this morning and thought about this board

That's what it appears is happening this day in age. However the sad thing is, these criminals seem to think that because you live in the suburbs in a decent home, you're rich, when 90% of the cases are just hard everyday working families

When these homeowners start putting some lead in thier as*es, maybe then they'll learn!

Also, they attack the areas where police patrol is sparse. Pearland should put more policing around 288/518 area.

Yeah, I read the news that crime is up in the suburbs. Ouch, housing value slips. Now we need to hire Lisa Nowak as a mall security guard in Denial Planation.

There's plenty of them on 288. They just hardly ever exit. When they want to make a U-turn they just follow the ruts in the median.

FYI:

Mailbox robberies have Pearland residents surprised It happened at a Pearland community mailbox
By Jessica Willey

(8/22/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) - Houston is surrounded by fast-growing communities, but with more urban sprawl comes a higher chance of crime. We've learned of a robbery where homeowners were targeted at community mailboxes in Pearland.

This is amazing. Why are the Pearland cops not telling anyone what the vehicle looks like?

People pay so much to live in SCR and this is what they get. They're paying more in property taxes per month than I pay in rent for my apartment a stone's throw away from Hiram Clarke, and I still go out and check my mail at night without getting kidnapped.

And if I ever do, it's not like I have any money in the bank

I don't know why the Pearland police refuse to give a description of the vehicle in question. I don't like the way the Pearland police operate. They seem so secretive. I checked the Pearland police dept. website and there is no mention of this incident in their press releases.....
