Memorial City--Sharpstown ditto.
First Colony--Sharpstown ditto. The Southwest Freeway comes in handy with my pimped-out ride.
Willowbrook--I was just there today; the Sears half is too ugly.
Cinco Ranch--Macy's West Oaks is terrible. (And so is the rest of the mall.) I have to drive to the Galleria or Memorial City for good stuff.
I'll be praying for you.

Illegals: Undocumented Mexican workers. Texas will follow you to SC. But on the upside there are tons of Mexican Groceries,Tacorias and day labor hanging around at the gas stations if you get the hankering.

In Charlotte it 'll be even more present. I was just observing the mountain regions of SC/GA/NC.

Who would've thunk that ESL would be provided in Ashville NC

btw, I LIVED THERE FOR 5 YEARS!!! I have been to every houston neighboorhood. I have been driving and Bus Riding on Metro. Been all over 56, 44, 82, 2, 25, now defunct TC Flyer, 86,216,33,49,35 (Fairview and Now Defunct Leland) 17 (back when it was gulfton), 80 Dowling , 77Lyons, 228 Addicks, 131 Memorial Express, 67 Dairy Ashford, 20 Canal, 48 Navigation, 73 Hobby West Belfort and 29 TSU/Hirsch To say a few.

There are some good areas like Williowbrook, FM1960, Spring, River Oaks, Tanglewood, Westheimer before Hilcroft from Hilcroft to Dairy Ashford pretty crappy. Mission Bend is not that bad but had some breakins in 2003. How would I know about that? Watched it off TV.

Williowbrook ghetto? I don't think so.
River Oaks Galleria and Memorial City ghetto? Have you ever lived in Houston?
Cinco Ranch too much like a country club out there, but ghetto no.

More importantly, what five years did you live here? Was it recent?

Since you're calling FM 1960 a categorically "good" area I'm going to assume you haven't been around much lately.

What an amazing feat. I've lived here for fifteen years and haven't seen every Houston neighborhood. But if driving through on the bus counts as knowing an area... I guess METRO does go places.

1980 to 1986, and 2000 to 2005 it's hard to find work in houston you have to go everywhere, and gas aint cheap, either. Things changed after the Enron collapse, slowing home sales, subprime mortgages (caused by Bush), and slowing retail sales.

2000 was probally Houstons best year economically, and crime rate wise too. As soon as the Iraq War hit in 2003 things started going fowl there.

I will say Houston has favored well vs. San Antonio however. There ain't nothing inside Loop 1604 anymore.

Instead of directing your angers at me, take your anger to the right place, Washington D.C. I did not wake up one morning and start complaining it just happened, slowly.

I wasn't angry, just asking a question. I know who's responsible for our problems...

Well, I suppose that white rich people in River Oaks, the Galleria Area, Cinco Ranch, etc. are a minority ethnic group in Houston.... but the "often as a result of social or economic restrictions, pressures, or hardships" probably does not apply, although I am sure you can come up with an argument for that too.

I suppose according to your definition, all neighborhoods which are occupied by predominately one ethnic group would be a ghetto then., regardless of wealth of class or standing.

It's one of those things where there is the "technical definition" and then there is the "connotation" of the word most people think of.

Whether it is the ghetto, the barrio, the bad side of chinatown, or the trailer park... I don't think most people would think of River Oaks as falling into that category. LOL.

George Bush living in a ghetto. LOL
