Get very frustrated on the I-10 traffic (katy area) since school started at the end of August. Seems suddenly all the people hit on the road even I left home at 6:00 am. Moved to katy for 2 years, travel on I-10 everyday but never had such bad traffic like now. Anyone know the reason? some people think it is due to the school season, but from Jan to May, it was much better with school open.

Its actually been pretty good the last couple of days. I travel it everyday. I'm on I10 from about 615am starting at 99 and take it all the way into downtown. It does seem worse than last year though.

No problems from the Beltway into downtown for me.

However, Katy is still absolutely on fire with building. Either people are still trying to get used to the back to school routine, or there's just that many more people moving in around you.

Yes, it's been as bad as ever since school started back up.
It takes me an extra 30 minutes to get to work than it did just a month ago.
It's especially bad around the Barker Cypress area and again right before the beltway.
I might have to start taking the Westpark tollway into town or something.

Lots of new developments in Katy plus the ongoing construction on I-10 inside the Loop are probably contributing to the congestion. Everyone probably looked at the widening of I-10 and decided to move further and further out and now it looks almost like it did prior to the expansion...

It's only up to the beltway where problem exists. I see it out of my office window every morning. My wife commutes from beltway to shepperd every morning and has no issues.

I guess when you move to Katy and commute into Houston, that the part of living high life in the suburbs.

I don't think the tollway is any better, you'll be slowing down or even stopping from 645-830am it seems. It's too darn narrow with only two lanes.

Last year around this time it was the same problem... Then as time goes by it seems like people forget about it or something...

I live in Katy and work downtown, always take the bus out of kingsland... Its cheaper, saves me time, and don't get frustrated while dealing with all that nasty traffic...

I do believe it will get worse... a lot worse with all the new construction... Seems like this last update to I10 was just a waste of money as they only added 1 lane to the main lanes, yet we have a lot of wasted space on the tollway/eztag lanes...

Once 99 opens from 290 to I-10 I'm sure that will make matters even worse as a lot of the people trying to avoid 290 will come down that way, plus all the new construction that will come up along the way... We need more jobs in the energy corridor and less downtown/galleria area...
