Thanks for the input.

I see lots of recommendations in this forum for Garden Villas, but I am not familiar with the neighborhood and when I look on a map, the proximity to the airport is a bit scary.

That is an issue, at least in a lot of parts of Garden Villas. If you are in the middle of it, yes, you can wave at the SW pilots coming in and they will wave back.

The sections over to the northeast or the far side get you out of the flight path though. There are some pocket areas east of it like Pecan Villas and Broadview that have large lots and few restrictions as well.
