The mall is actually making a comeback. Some new stores have opened. They have a brand new Theater over there, and the structure itself is getting a face lift. There are planes to convert it into more of those life center looking malls, and they are gonna build some condo looking thing on the Greenspoint side.

as for the area it has a ton of office parks. From Imperial Road going all the way to Hardy there are just tons and tons of office parks (dunno if it is called that, they look like malls but all their tenants are offices).

Directly across the street from the mall a World Market thingie just opened. There are probably over a hundred mini-stores in there.

As for the neighborhoods, the population of the area jumped up by a ton over the last decade. The area of greenspoint to the left of 45 looks rather nice. the income levels on that side is much lower (actually the Cityview side isn't even the bad part of that zip code, it is Aldine/ Airline area plus the mall that gives the area a bad name).

I bet it is interesting to see an area become more different and grow faster in matter of time.
Don't even have to let a long time go by. I work out of town and can see changes just over the span of a few months!! I don't think people really understand how awfully fast those areas are growing!!

Houston is growing fast long more directions than most cities. The East side is a huge economic engine with those huge refineries and chemical plants. With current EPA rules those arent going to be closed down and work moved overseas and it brings more $ into Houston economy than can be imagined. North and west are both growing fast but each has its advantages of course. S and SW are booming too, which is why Houston has already added more jobs than it lost in the recent global recession. Houston is the largest city with no zoning which results in many CBD type office complex areas and it will also allow areas like around Greenspoint redevelop without delay when the market is ready.

West is further from Hurricane impacts and has had less flooding historially than most areas however North is similiar in these respects. West will continue to grow rapidly now that the man made barrier of the flood reservoirs which created 5 mile long stretches of West Houston unuseable land. Now that it has been jumped West Houston will continue its torrid pace of growth since jobs are moving that way and with I10 expansion complete and West Park Tollway opening up more land to easier commute to jobs as well as SW freeway, West side has more commute options to existing jobs and those roads also attract new jobs such as the once planned Halliburton massive campus at Grand Parkway and I10. The ExxonMobil campus will have a comparable impact in N. Houston but many of those jobs are already in N. Houston just in Greenspoint not further North.

I think West will win but would put money on Houston growing faster than any other super sized US city.

I voted West H. When I lived in Houston it was in Greenspoint and that left a sour taste in my mouth

I am surprised so many members on here have lived in Greenspoint. Is it a right of passage or something??

anyway, the Northside isn't limited to GP. There is 1960, there is Spring, Atascocita, Splendora, Champions, parts of Cypress and lets not forget: The Woodlands and Conroe
