We are new to the area and are interested in private schools for our children. I read that St. John's private school administers testing prior to entrance into Kindergarten, but I can't find the "type" or "name" of the test administered. Meanwhile, Kinkaid readily identifies the test it gives.

Does anyone know the type of testing that is done? I assume it is an objective, standardized test?

Many thanks in advance.

Did you ever get an answer? The two schools - as well as most of the private schools in the area - administer the WPPSI test for Kindergarten admissions. There's also a 'playdate' where the children visit a classroom setting with other children. FYI, there is an early time frame for your child to get a place in the testing pool at SJS - i.e. they get so many applications that they limit the pool to about 175 (I believe). You need to get your child on the list far in advance to ensure they are in that pool for their kindergarten year. 1st grade is also another important entry point, esp for non-legacies. Hope this helps!
