I highly recommend you look into the subdivision across the street from Shadow Creek, Southern Trails. I just purchased a beautiful inventory home from Ashton Woods. It was overall a great experience and the construction was top notch. My home inspector even commented that he was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The community is gorgeous and I cannot recommend it enough.

AND I highly recommend you read as much as possible on Homeowners for Better Building and Homeowners Against Deficient Dwellings. (just google them)
You will find much needed information on TRCC on both sites (Texas Residential Construction Commission)
Read the forums and articles.
AND more importantly know about the clauses in home contracts dealing with mandatory binding arbitration.
I would just say be consumer smart when it comes to a home purchase.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT ever purchase a home from Newmark Homes! The quality of the home is horrible, the superintendants overseeing the construction of the home are terrible, and the subcontractors building the homes are pathetic! We had an unbelievably dreadful experience building our home, we should have backed out, because we are very very disappointed with the quality of the home now. We have been here 1 year and want to move out, its that bad. Shotty shotty workmanship, they use the cheapest of the cheap in every part of the home... things creak, pop, break, crack, etc. There are holes all over the place, the baseboards and woodwork is a major eyesore (holes, dents, pits, uneven), and the paint job is the worst ever!!!! They don't like to repair anything that is wrong and their contractors have attitudes with you when you ask for something to be done right. I wish I could take back that year of my life during the building process and go elsewhere to buy a home! Newmark is the worst!
