I just called the guy who installed my water softener and RO system to get a quote for water spinkler. He said right now he doesnt have a crew for water sprinkler. They'll be back by March or April he said. I didnt asked further but was actually curious why he didnt have a crew until March or April for water sprinkler.

Anyway, any recommendation for water sprinkler companies? and how did it cost you?

Thanks,

Bad sign. It means he doesn't have a dedicated installation group for a sprinkler system. Run.

Yeah I'd find a dedicated irrigation company. Preferable to find one that offers a one or two year warranty on everything. They should have a license number from the TCEQ also. I had five companies come out to quote me on a system. Prices ranged from about $2200-$3600. Generally they'll quote you a price per zone, $300 per zone seemed to be about average.

With the winter coming in, a lot of the workers go south for a month or two... My lawn guy does this every year... I have a guy that even though he didn't install my system he does maintenance on it.

What kreeyax said is right on the money... they charge you by zones, cheap end is $300... I have seen people try to charge up to $750 per zone... Don't go cheap on the zones either, you'll need enough to cover everything... We have a 14,000 sq ft lot (larger than avg) and have 8 zones... We made sure the flower beds in the front and back of the house have a dedicaded zone as well...

Even though most of the guys are gone, they are still plenty hungry enough working through the winter

Also, it may be 'this'....

My Buddy, who is a Lisenced Contractor told me that he is usually booked up, by February, until the first part of the year!!

He has had people call him, and want things done 'now' and he tells them they have to wait, til January or around there, they immediately go somplace else...

But, its like he told me, a 'good Contractor' will already have bookings and his schedule filled up, long before the season starts, so that others who are willing to wait, (because they know he is 'good'), have to take thier turn in line.
Sure, he will come out and give them an estimate, but, he still tells them he is booked and asks them if they want to wait, or just find another guy...(usually, he knows a few guys who can take care of it on the side).

I wish you well...

Jesse

We had a guy come out and install sprinklers back in March for $300/zone.
Not sure if he is available right now or not...I would think he is.

He is not able to install the sprinkler system, due to the lack of employees he has, which have traveled south for the winter. As the previous posters mentioned zoned units are in the price point of about $300 per zone. Good Luck
