We are interested in a house at Grayson Lakes. Right now, the subdivision is BARELY inside the zone for Seven Lakes (the other side of Katy-Flewellen is Katy HS). But when HS #7 opens in 2013 (right next to Pine Mill Ranch) we are wondering what HS Grayson Lakes will be re-zoned to.

If it is the new HS, fine. If it is Katy HS.....not fine (don't want to listen to Katy HS is just as good as CR, Taylor, or Seven Lakes).

The new HS is just 4 miles away from Grayson (slightly closer than Katy or CR), but how might the re-zoning go? I'm worried that a larger subdivision like Firethorne and/or Cardiff Ranch may pull some political hi-jinks and be re-zoned to the new HS instead of Grayson.

Anyone know how historically KISD handles re-zoning? For what areas was HS #7 intended for in the first place?

Thanks!

Katy ISD will present a proposal on boundary modifications at a public workshop on December 8th -- 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Educational Support Complex. At that time, they will be requesting feedback from the community.

Although I can't say what Katy ISD will eventually decide, I can tell you that my friends in Grayson Lakes fully expect their children to be zoned to HS #7, not to Katy HS.

Katy is not exactly as good as the others. It's probably as well performing as Taylor, but even then Taylor still has a nicer building. If football is your thing then the state champions may appeal to you, but otherwise Cinco Ranch and Seven Lakes are the two superior Katy ISD schools. Sorta like how Clements stands out in Fort Bend among a group of generally good performing schools.

Ha. I am currently zoned to Seven Lakes High School and plan on moving to a neighborhood that is zoned to Katy High School. I've lived in this town all my life and know that Katy is a great school. I would like to avoid having my children attend a school full of rich kids that have daddy's money at their disposal. To be clear, I am talking about Cinco Ranch and Seven Lakes.
