I am looking to have a 120 person wedding. The budget is tight. I want to spend no more that $3000 for food/facility/dress ect... With that said, the food will be cheap (really considering fried chicken or tacos LOL). The big hold up is the venue. I want an outdoor wedding. I am thinking a city park with a nice pavilion. I would prefer a less known park because there would less people around. Any suggestions? Any favorite parks?

wouldn't it be nicer to have less people but high end food in a really nice intimate setting?

Can't offer ideas on a park but if you're planning to get married in the next 3 or 4 months, you'll want to have an alternative location indoors in case the weather doesn't cooperate.

There are some good books out there on planning a wedding on a budget. If you have an early afternoon wedding, you won't need to provide a full meal for your guests at all -- just finger food, beverages and wedding cake.

I can't think of any place in Houston that's not $3000 just itself. Then add on pricing for the dress, etc.

Try some wedding boards. Though most who post on boards are having a $10k plus wedding but you never know.

Try the Japanese Gardens in Hermann Park. They host weddings.

I went to a outdoor wedding at The Gardens of Bammel Lane (River Oaks area). Looks like the rental fee is $1500-$2500 depending on the day.

Wouldn't it be nicer to have the people you want with yummy but not-so-pricey food in a good but not elaborate setting?

You might Google hard on a search for a family reunion rental or a picnic rental. If you Google "wedding rental" they will be ready to charge you!

Try some of the towns outside of Houston - you might find a better price. Good luck.

The program was within our budget and they have excellent facilities and the memories are still fresh in my mind.
The OP has long since married, had 3 kids, became bored living in the suburbs, gained weight, divorced, and remarried her tennis instructor who always said she could do better.

I had a hard time finding a place that would do a rehearsal dinner for 20-25 for under $1000. Good luck with feeding 120 and a venue for 3k. Sorry, but sometimes expectations need to be brought down a notch.
