Do you buy flood insurance every year?
Oh and yes, buy flood insurance every year. It is reletively cheap... and all it takes is a big dump of rain to flood. None of us live on "higher ground"

Think of how much damage you would have with only 2 inches of water... flooring, furniture, electronics, drywall, etc...

Toyota/Honda would be the way to go IMHO, this coming from a union man.

It is better to have it then not! Its like what less than $400. I would get it just in case. We always buy it wether we are in a flood zone or not. Ya just never know with the crazy Houston wether and those hurricanes.

What do most folks buy/drive in the Houston area ? I have noticed alot of Ford F series trucks (our tenant in fact has 2) but I wasn't really paying that much attention on our trips back there in general

There are a lot of dealerships on I-45 from Conroe down through Spring and even further....I would imagine I shouldn't have too much difficulty snagging a finance position in one of them...at least that is my hope
(though hubby and I actually plan to take 6-8 weeks off after our move to get the house set up)

My wife and I went to look at cars back in Dec. along I-10(Katy). Ford, GMC, and Chrysler dealerships were very slow while the Toyota and Honda were very busy, it took us awhile just to get a sales person to assist. It really was like night and day between the two(American and foreign) dealerships.

fyi, I see more and more foreign cars on the road now days.

Actually, the Bridgeland development is in danger. The government is making them change their plans regarding water flow and flood control issues. Seems that their current plans will cause flooding of homes downstream of the development. Bridgeland is, of course, resisting this as it adds alot of money to the bottom line to fix these issues.
