It's the New Year, I have health insurance again, and a new deductible period starts...I need to start doing a whole bunch of stuff that has gone neglected the past few years!

Really would appreciate some recommendations for physicians in the Sugar Land/southwest area... if you love your doc and they're further away that's okay, I'll entertain a drive for someone truly terrific. My insurance is thru United Healthcare, and there are bonus points if you happen to know that's accepted. (Yes I'm also asking friends/family but getting a lot of "I need to switch too; doc moved/retired; don't like current one," etc.)

I need:

- primary care doc... internist or family practitioner most likely. Prefer a female who would also do basic gyn stuff so I don't have to find one of those too. (The "ob" part of ob/gyn not an issue .)

- foot/ankle specialist...preferably MD but fab podiatrist referrals welcome.
Having regular foot pain and think bunion surgery may be in the future. ...

- dermotologist... it's been eons since I was checked out for all these little moles and skin tags, etc.

...where to get a mammogram if I do that on my own before I have a primary doc....not sure if the insurance will pay for a digital but will check that out.

For some of this, a direct message may be best; and certainly if there is someone you'd say stay AWAY from! Always as helpful to know as where TO go!

Many many thanks! I really need to start lining these things up!!

Kelsey Seybold Clinic in Sugar Land does a fantastic job for my family of 4. I had the same primary care doc for 10 years now, done few surgeries with them, we really love their service. Also have few doctor friends working there and they also highly recommended and even use it for their own families.
Now I am not sure if Kelsey is included in your insurance coverage.

Foot and ankle - try Jay Oates. Lots of people I know use him.

Dr. Yana Finkelshteyn is excellent. I don't know whether she does OB/GYN stuff but for general primary care, she's top notch.

Methodist is as good as it gets for such an unpleasant procedure.

I'm going to plug Dr. Dickerson in Sugar Land even though you aren't looking for a pediatrician. She's outstanding.

I don't think this is a question best answered in a forum. You should go to your insurance's website and create an online account with them. There you can search doctors by proximity to your area, expertise, and ratings. That is what I did and I found some great doctors.

Also, stay away from Kelsey Seybold Clinic. They are old school and don't have the new technology that most other doctors have. I went to an ENT there and the doctor had one of those silver discs on his forehead used to reflect light into my nose. I later went to a University of Texas ENT and he had a camera that showed me, and him, everything in my nose.

I had an ENT that used the silver disc and I loved him - he spent time with me and he actually truly cared whether or not I felt bad. He was old school but also old school in that he went into medicine because he cared about people.

That's a pretty stupid way to judge the quality of a doctor or a clinic :-)

that's pretty sophisticated stuff right there man, most people just blow their nose in a Kleenex for examination.
