Keep Your Fingers Crossed
I really think it will die down and take the same path Dean did. But it does bear watching.

Are the people on the North/NW side already boarding up their houses and making their hotel accomodations in Oklahoma City?
I really hope to see less senseless panic this time...

This may not be true. The HH had to abort the last flight due to extreme turbulence and graupel. The NHC is saying that reading may be false due to the ice messing with the readings they got. We'll have to see what they say at the next advisory. Also, it depends on if they can safely get the HH out there for the 2am readings.
Regardless, this is a monster of a hurricane. I really feel for those in its path.

This thing blew up into a Cat. 5 in no time, sheesh! It's going west-northwest now so if it continues that way, it will track a bit north of where Dean did. The Weather Channel just reported that if it slows down much there's a front that could pull it further north into Texas.
NOT COOL, especially since good ole Allstate canceled windstorm coverage on folks!

I just listened to the fox weather reporter in Houston ,and he said a front for right now will keep Felix away.

It is amazing though. Just yesterday, no one was thinking about Felix (was barely a tropical storm). Now, it is a Cat 5 Hurricane with sustained winds of 165 MPH.

(yawn) that will give us more excitement if it was directly in the path towards Houston. I'm really bored and could get myself off this PC to board ups some windows for a change; yet,

Update
I really think that Felix will make its way into Central America and on into Mexico. There's every indication of that. Word is that it might make landfall in Nicaragua sometime tomorrow.
