Default Move to Baytown/Mont Belvieu

Hello,
My family is moving to the Baytown/Mont Belvieu area. We are from Corpus Christi and are completely unfamiliar with the area. Do you have any suggestions about neighborhoods and/or schools? What about climate, things to do, restaurants, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Baytown and Mont Belvieu are cities home to petrochemical plants so you will hear a lot of bad about them but you can find good neighborhoods in that area. Just try to move where you are at least 5 miles away from a plant. Kimball Hill has some nice neighborhoods out there and reasonably priced. You will find better public schools if you move a little farther in such as to Deer Park or La Porte. Good luck.

Mount Belvieu (Barbers Hill) schools are the best in the area. There are at least 8 actively building subdivisions (And as many builders) close by. Some in the city limits and some in the county. If you can afford 240-250K check Barrow Ranch, 215K - 230K Eagle Creek.

I live in the Tanglewilde subdivision (off of 146, two miles South of Interstate 10), and I think it's a very nice part of Baytown. Also convenient, because you can hop on 146 so quickly and commute easily to various areas (downtown Houston on I-10 or go over the bridge and hop on 225 to Pasadena).

Barbers Hill (the name of the schools in Mont Belvieu) has always been considered a wealthy school district. (In Texas - that refers to the value of your commercial properties rather than the income of your residents.)

Those distinctions are less important these days due to attempts to make school funding more equitable, but it still usually translates to above average facilities.
