Default Can United Continental lure Gordon Bethune out of retirement?

My understanding is that San Antonio native Gordon Bethune made Continental one of the best-loved air carriers. Employee morale was high, customer service was excellent and many quality awards were won. Maybe he needs to come out of retirement to help lead this transition and bring that Continental culture to United.

SCREW United. They can keep the business up north and they can go bankrupt for what I care. I am not giving Continental my business after 20 years of loyalty. I found me another Texas airliner to give my money to.

Why the hell would United hire Gordon Bethune? That's like asking the Red Sox to hire George Steinbrenner.

They need to do something. Many corporate flyers I know ( and Continental devotees) cannot stand the customer service with United.

It's stands to reason. Each airline has exclusive routes and times and can pretty much be as surley as they want. You wanna fly from IAH to LAX? Okay, there are WAY more Continental/United flights than SW, so, shut up and like it. Sad, but true.

?????????

That would be like the Red Sox asking Tito to come back, since he's been our skipper before may be more like it. Since he's already been our CEO one time already.

As an employee...I don't see him coming back. He seems like a man who is enjoying retirement.

Are they flying out of Houston ? There is no change in crews between the two companies.

If you're flying out of EWR,IAH,CLE the only thing that has changed is the name on the planes.

There may be a handful of flights out of Houston crewed by United people on United metal ( planes).

Otherwise the only time people will see United crews is flying through United hubs on to another destination. On a operational level we're operating seperately pretty much still.

In other words there are no United Pilots flying with Continental FA's or CO pilots flying with United FA's

There are no UA and CO pilots flying in the same cockpits. Combined company but still integrating. Not sure how it worked with all the oil and gas companies that combined here in Houston and how long it took them to combine their workforce. Most work groups have to combine contracts, whereas oil and gas probably only had to worry about that issue with their plant employees.
