Hi all,

Here's a little background about me:

-Late twenties
-Will work in downtown Houston
-Woudln't mind a * < 1 hour commute
-Would like to purchase a house
-Wouldn't like to be too far from Houston and would prefer a place that's very diverse
-Would like to golf

After perusing this board, it seems like Sugar Land would be a good destination for me. Am I correct? If so, where in Sugar Land would you guys suggest?

Also, this was really meant to be a two-part thread as I wanted to ask about real estate investments in Houston. Do most people usually buy houses here? Are there a lot of renters outside of Houston? Are there any real estate investors here that can give me general information/advice?

Thanks in advance. I'll also continue to peruse this section for more info.

What's your budget for a house? Look at property tax rates too.

1. What's your budget?
2. Do schools matter?
3. Home size needed?

Some more info would help to determine your options.

that depends on your income status..sugar land overall is nice. personally, i like new territiry and sweetwater communities the best. traffic wise i think highway 6 would be the worst. 59 is doable most of the time. sugar land is the biggest suburb of houston and it has become more diverse over the years. there are other nice suburbs of houston and nice areas in the city to live. just depends on your budget and where about in the city you are going to work or travel to. the starting points of houston and sugar land city limits are less than 5 minutes apart driving on 59. the small portion of the city of stafford is only 2 to 3 miles between sugar land and houston on 59.
