Hi, I'm new here, looking for some help.

I'm moving from South Africa to work in Sugar Land. I'm not clued up about various cities within Houston. I'm aged 27 and single, and looking to rent a 1 bedroom apartment, preferably in a gated community.

So here are my requirements
-It has to be relatively safe(I know, rich coming from a South African)
-I should be able to commute to Sugar Land under 35 minutes
-Looking for a neighborhood with diverse racial groups
-Access to High speed internet
-Cost Max $900 per month

The little research that I made is that Sugar Land is culturally diverse but way out of my price range, next in line is Missouri City, apparently its not so safe.

I would grealty appreciate your recommendations, thanks in advance.

Hey,
I am in a similar situation and going to move to Sugar Land soon. Any pointers on apartment search would be greatly appreciated.

Sugar Land Is not way out of your price range. You can find plenty of apartments that meet your criteria in your price range. Use apartments.com to find what your looking for.

Looking on Hot Pads.com, I already see a couple in your price range in Sugar Land along hwy 6. I don't think I have to tell you just how diverse Sugar Land, but in case you're wondering -- it's extremely diverse. Very large South Asian and East and Pacific Islander population, but other ethnic groups are very visible.

Not true. Missouri City is split by zip code in terms of attractiveness. 77459 is considered to be very attractive as it is more affordable than Sugar Land, good schools, has many amenities in terms of shopping and eating, proximity to Sugar Land, and accessibility to the Medical Center, a main business hub for the city. 77489, not so attractive due to its poorer performing schools, lack of true retail options, and slightly depressed atmosphere.
