A Houston Mardi Gras would be lame. When you think Mardi Gras, you think NOLA. Galveston does have a history with having Mardi Gras so that is all good - and they aren't trying to replicate NOLA, they are doing their own thing based on the cities history. It's never good to replicate other cities, it needs to be a party that the city can claim and it becomes its own thing.

Well it could have easily been hosted at the convention center in Downtown Houston. Houston just lacks good planning when it comes to hosting events.
