sounds like someone who knows of one and heard about the other, or heard things about both, but never been to either.

Thats like someone saying they prefer Fort worth because Dallas city limits are too large, in actuality they have the same sized land area

This fight will never be over or ever be won.

Go on over to you tube and listen to the Austin Lounge Lizards sing about going back to Dallas Texas to see if anything could be worse than losing you. My family has loved and related to that tune since it came out. If that doesn't do it for you, there is always Jimmy Dale Gilmore "Have you ever seen Dallas from a DC9 at night"

Wow. I was just sharing an opinion and get slammed. I used the expression "get the h_ll out of " to convey how I personally FEEL when driving around Houston.... I do not mean to disparage Houston. Apologies.

If anything it is a cut on me that I am constantly thinking about how to avoid a traffic jam.... I am sure I have missed out on much of Houston. But I believe I am not alone in my feeling, and I believe the feeling relates to the subject of this thread, namely urban planning and development.

Carpe.

It wasn't the fact that your statement about downtown Houston was wrong [I agree with it]. It was that you used it as a negative against Houston as if Dallas downtown is any better.

like that wasn't clear.

lol, now he is saying that he didn't spend much time there, how would he know which has more of an urban feel???

anyone outside of Dallas would tell you that Houston's inner loop beats anywhere in Dallas on urban feel.

Houston downtown, to me, seems like a place where many many people come to work and then try to get the h_ll out of there as quick as they can when they are not working, or to beat the traffic jams. Just a sense that I get.

Carpe
Feel free to tell us what city is not like that.
I can't think of one city where a huge percentage of people that work in downtown don't live in the suburbs.
