My family will be moving to Houston this summer from Europe. My husband will be working in Sugarland (Zip Code 77478) while I'll be working at University of Houston, Downtown. We also have two young kids in Elementary School.
I wanted to ask of neighborhoods (preferably in the inner loop or nearby) that would make commute easy for both of us. I was also wondering if anyone can suggest good private schools that have an international representation. Thank you!

What's your price range? The public schools in Sugarland are good. You could try something around the Upper Kirby area in 77098 if your budget is $350k+. You could also try Meyerland off 610. It all comes down to your price range. You also have the Galleria area off 610/59 right between Sugarland and UH.

Bellaire, Meyerland, West University Place.
It all really depends on your housing budget. These don't come cheap, especially West U.

To find out school zoning, use School Zone Search Tool

To get ACT/SAT scores of high schools, use HAR.com: Houston school information and finder - Search for schools, ranking & compare public schools

Awty will be out of both of your ways, though. You might instead look into Meyerland, a house zoned to Kolter Elementary, which has a foreign language magnet. I've heard several Awty families have migrated to Kolter. Good school, great language program, likely to have foreign families, too.

Stick toward the 610 loop or South of 90... there tends to be a deadzone along 59 between Chimney Rock and Kirkwood...

There are a number of lease options close to Awtry., Rice Military, Heights and Galleria. The commute for your husband would not be too bad as he would be going against traffic and downtown Houston is easily accessable from those locations.
