We are coming to Houston first weekend in March for couple of reasons--

are considering staying in SugarLand area vs Galleria where my husband says the traffic would be much worse--
any recommendations for hotels in that area that you or friends have had occasion to use

I have done some research and the Drury Inn/Suites seems like it might be good choice because it has decent prices w/ free hot breakfast and gated free parking area...
so I would be particularly intested in anything a local might know about it...
One negative to it is that it is older hotel and might not have been updated recently

I have stayed at that particular Drury Inn countless times back when DH's company would put him up while he'd be working in their Sugar Land office. It's a really great hotel and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat! It's right next door to Pappasito's (walkable) and tons of other choices right nearby. It's kept incredibly clean, and the staff is really warm and welcoming. I highly recommend it! I know it was completely updated in 2006 sometime. I would bet it's been done again. The breakfasts were always really good, and we really liked the afternoon Manager's reception with snacks and cocktails.

I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Hyatt Place at Lake Pointe or Marriott Town Center are two of the nicest ones. If you are paying for it yourself, consider using Priceline - a friend of mine just got an incredible deal that way.

The person who is posting an ad cloaked as a DM to me should stop--since you did not sign your comment (wonder why???) I can't forward it to the mods but I don't appreciate your thwarting of the forum rules...

There is no way in heck I would choose that hotel just BECAUSE of your DMs vs an open post--
if the hotel is so good why not post your comments for everyone to see???

once again--the poster who gave me two recommendations for a particular hotel NOT in Sugarland area as a DM--left another DM saying it wasn't an ad--
then why not make the post here in the open forum if you had no ulterior motive?
I still have no recourse as to your identity since you did not sign your explanation--
why would I choose to believe #3 DM?
