We are asking for equality...not special rights. Does he believe in equal rights for gays? Does he believe in Gay marriage? If not then he is just hiding his bigotry towards gays behind semantics.

Lots of gays got married before they figured out they were/are gay. Lots of gays stay in the closet and still have wives and children (downlow). So just because a guy is with or has been in a relationship with a woman doesn't make them straight.

Apparently the woman in Katy, like Mr. Berry, doesn't believe in religious freedom... or i guess just not in that religion (constitution doesn't discriminate)

It always irks me when people who have no clue about Manhattan start ranting and raving about the goings-on of the city. The people who foam at the mouth about the "Ground Zero Mosque" are usually mouth-breathing ideologues from flyover states.

Do these people not realize how massive and chaotic Manhattan is? You have sex shops next to gay bars next to mosques next to god-knows-what. Nobody who lives there actually cares about a mosque or community center or whatever else somewhere in lower Manhattan. 2 blocks in Manhattan is packed with more diversity than an entire flyover state. Flyover mouth-breathers just saw this as an opportunity to rage and stir up the rubes some more.
