Agree. Maybe its the highly socialized nature of these areas...

If yes, then *********, stick to your burbs. We'll move the vagrants to your area and see how you like it. Am I glad I'm not homeless or mentally ill? Yes, but if you want/need help go get it. Thats not the point of this thread. I'm just sick of turning down beggars when I get gas, then another beggar when I get my cleaning, then another when I hit Specs, then another when I get a coffee. etc.
Man O Man don't ever visit Jamaica...the begging is relentless no matter where you are! I will NEVER visit that place again due to the brutal begging! Saying NO does not even make them flinch...I had to use a phrase that thankfully was taught to me just before I visited and it worked wonders if NO did not ward them off! It is very very annoying to be constantly hit on by beggars when you are trying to enjoy your vacation. If you ever go to Jamaica make sure you know the phase that will stop them in their tracks!

I actually feel badly for some of the homeless people. I had befriended 2 in downtown Houston. They were both mentally challenged but the most interesting part is that they NEVER asked me for a single dime! I fed them whenever I was downtown and spotted them. It actually made my day to make their day. I don't know what ever became of them but I am thankful that I could help them the little that I did.

I know some people at a pub that 'befriended' a couple of them as well. Provided them odd jobs to make some money. Then they got violent when just females were around. Persona non grata after that. Yes mental illness is a big part of the problem, but they are still annoying and if I wasnt a good sized guy I may be threatened.
