I don't think there is anything wrong with TAPPS not having games on Sundays. We are in a predominately Christian area and the people who started the organization are Christians. The league benefits from having a wider variety of schools participate or they would have made it an exclusively Christian organization. But it's not, it's designed for all private schools so they should not exclude only a particular religious group. It can be only Christian (to meet the unique needs of Christian schools) or it can be for all private schools, but you can't pick and choose which schools you want to allow into your club based on their varying beliefs. That is what makes it discrimination.

Are you going to say the same thing the day that Tapps say that we can't have any games on any hispanic holiday?

Well, I'm Jewish and I've been defending the Jews this whole thread. I still don't think it's wrong for TAPPS to not schedule games on Sundays. To force the Christians to have games on Sunday would be the same as not changing the Friday night game for the Jews. Making the Sunday scheduling a standard is mostly for convenience sake because almost every game is going to have a Christian school playing in it, while it would be unusual for a Jewish school to be playing due to their relatively small number. You make exceptions to the norm to accommodate the smaller groups. It would be unreasonable to ask the league to never have games on Friday nights because you have Jews in the league. But it's good form to change the game date on the rare occasion that one of the (few) Jewish schools is playing. It's also unreasonable to ask TAPPS to regularly schedule games on Sunday because you'd be making scheduling adjustments every single week!

No, I don't think they should eliminate all games due to a particular holiday unless the school playing in that game is of the ethnicity that would be observing the holiday. Also, different holidays have different weights. You wouldn't reschedule a game for Tu B'shevat, Halloween, Fourth of July or Cinco de Mayo. You would reasonably only make changes if there are religious rules of the teams in the game that wouldn't allow the kids to play.

The day Beren Academy called to inquire about joining the league is the day the possibility of another Sabbath came into the mix.

Like several have said, all it took was switching the Friday games. Jews have been making allowances for other peoples holidays all their lives.

What's the big deal about changing a game time?

It won't be long until the Hispanics out number all of us Anglos. There will be no problem there, as they will be the rule makers.

Religion is not listed in their non-discrimination policy.

Looks like the Muslims, Jews and well intentioned Christians need to form their own league if their kids want to participate in sports, or anything else.

Charter schools could fit in, too.

Games played and musicians practice Monday thru Thursday.
