Good news for Houston. I suspect the Panama Canal Project has a lot to do with it. Houston's Port is set to explode with new business once the Panama Canal expansion is completed. L.A. and other western ports are not happy.

Good to see Dallas on that list, too. Our economy is well on it's way to taking the top spot from California.

Houston also had its bubble crash back in mid 80's when oil prices collapsed after OPEC action drove them high. It took a long time to recover from that lost of 250k jobs. Also the higher level of domestic drilling activity is helping now as well as the technology to support very deep water drilling globally. The port helps as well but is not the single large factor

You know Houston has "Made It" when Marvel comics launches a Spider-Man spin off comic, called Scarlet Spider about a clone of Peter Parker (Kaine) and sets it in Houston...and makes him pretty much Spider-Man without the whole "Nobody Dies" moral code...fun read,a little bit Spider-Man, a little bit Punisher, if anyone is a lapsed comic reader I would say give it a try...also Super Dinosaur! Trust me on that.

back on topic...good job Houston!

...now about those Astros

Bedrock City had a half price sale today. While I won't be getting Scarlet Spider, I did pick up some nice silver age AS's.

Is the Houston spider man a suburbanite, or does he live in One Park Place high rise downtown?

They are only on the second issue, and it starts off where he planned on "just passing through on his way to Mexico" and ends up running into things that keep him there, here is some more info.

NYCC: Yost Runs to Texas with "Scarlet Spider" - Comic Book Resources

really fun book, a favorite scene where a bad guy keeps calling him Spider-Man, says it one too many times and he beats the snot out of him for it..."I'm...NOT...Spider....MAN!!!" lol he also finds it funny that the fictional mayor of Houston is Mayor Parker...can't espace that name...lol
