So, I moved the family to Houston about a month ago (fresh out of school) to take a position here in Houston. My wife has not had any luck in finding potential employers in the International trade/commerce industry. Anyone know of networking opportunities or companies that might have openings? She has a degree in International Business and is fluent in English, Spanish and proficient in French. She is very skeptical because of her resume. She graduated from college in '02 and hasn't worked in her area but 1 year and that was about 4 years ago. Any leads or advice would be greatful. Thanks

She has an MBA or just an undergraduate degree? I am assuming it is probably the latter?

I can only give my view - I have been involved in recruitment and hiring as part of previous roles in large energy companies and investment banks. Currently am co-owner in an advisory business and do the occasional hiring.

My view is with an undergraduate degree and no real material work experience (from the sounds of it) plus not having worked in a few years, she really isn't very attractive to employers. If I was hiring someone where the job did not require loads of experience or an MBA, I'd generally just go get someone directly out of school rather than someone who has been inactive professionally for 4 years.

Probably best bet is either: a) go for an entry level sales position, international or not, to build up experience, or b) go back to school to get an MBA.
