Default Where to live if you work in Montrose?

I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but I interviewed for a position in the Montrose area and am feeling good about it. My husband often works out of town, but when he's in town he works in the Pasadena/Deer Park/La Porte area.

We currently live in Summerwood and like it, but I'm wondering if there are other areas we might consider?

Schools are VERY important, as is a low-crime rate. We are hoping to stay below $300,000. We like older neighborhoods, but aren't opposed to newer construction. Thoughts?

Willowbend Westbury Maplewood on the south west side just outside the loop 10 to 15 min drive to Montrose area. You can get a nice 2200qsft to 2600sqft 3 or 4 bed room home maybe even a remodeled one in your price range

With your budget it might be tough to find a place in Montrose, but as far as schools go, Montrose has great schools. Lanier (middle) and Lamar (High school) are both IB schools and are considered 2 of the best schools in HISD.

Also, Montrose is such a great location as far as close to great restaurants, the museums, good shopping and easy access to most places in the loop where you don't have to get on the Houston highways.

This is optimistic as an estimate, requiring an empty Main street or an empty SW freeway. I would allow 20-25 minutes.

That said, I love these neighborhoods and think they're the best deal in town!

How are the schools in these areas? Low crime?
