Hi everyone!
Moving to Houston from upstate NY, with my baby, and am already wondering "What about schools?" We'd like to live in the Heights, and are wondering about schools there.... We'd rather not send our daughter to private school - just seems so entitled to us - and we'd like to expose her to different cultures and people in Houston. We also want her to have a quality and SAFE school experience. Can we get that in the Heights?

Thanks!
Elizabeth

Travis Elementary has had one of the best reputations of the public elementary schools.

I get the impression that the Heights has so many non-child households that many of the schools wind up having only the lower-income Hispanic households represented but Travis seems to do better at keeping the whole neighborhood connected. (My memory tells me that Travis spent at least a year at another location while the building was remodeled/rebuilt or something...I don't know if that is finished yet....somebody will know!)

Oh...I found that the remodeling took place 2005-2006 so they have been back for a while.
