A bit worried about moving to the NW - W burbs of Houston (Tomball / Katy / Cypress). I am shocked at the amount of crime (lots of break-ins and car thefts) and it seems like there's a ton of sexual predators!

I've also become aware of the sex trade industry being pretty revelant down there. "Tea shops / art shops / massage businesses"

Those who live in Houston / burbs - is this something to worry about?

Please, where are you moving from? In any city, all of these things are prominent if you look on a crime map. However, when translated to real-life situations, it's not anything out of the ordinary. We have beautiful suburbs in NW such as cypress and then we have pockets of bad areas. Yes, you definitely have to be smart about your surroundings and not let your guard down, watch your children. And if you want to look for trouble, "tea shops" or whatnot, then yes, you will find it. But overall, if you want to find a nice neighborhood in NW houston, there are plenty!!

Houston (being the fourth largest city, close to the border, and a large port) is one of the major hubs for sex traffickers yes. Their prevalence being in the NW or whatever I wouldn't know. I imagine your daily life would not have any run ins with them.

I'd say your biggest concern would be the car traffic and commute if you are looking at Cypress and Tomball

Sexual predators are all over the US. The state of texas does have strict registry laws. But, there are a lot of people who get off without having to be registered. That is a whole other issue
