... I realize a lot can happen before September, but it seems all but certain.

Houston is such a large market that they almost certainly will get at least a look. I'm actually a little surprised that the NHL hasn't given Houston a shot at a team. The WHA Aeros did pretty well for a number of years...If they could revisit a dog market like Atlanta, which didn,'t support the NHL very well the first time around, why not Houston?

Hockey is doing very well there. You'd be surprised at how big the youth hockey scene had gotten. Teams from Dallas have been doing well at nationals. Kids who grew up playing in Dallas are starting to make it to high level juniors, college and even the NHL.

Our youth hockey scene in Houston is expanding as well, but an NHL team would be a huge boost.

If Phoenix relocates I doubt it will be to Quebec City unless the players union agrees to realignment. That works in Houston's favor since it would be easier to keep the Coyotes in Houston, KC, Seattle or Las Vegas without realignment.

... I know this. I'm from Fort Worth and my old high school has a hockey team.

I just said "not that popular" in reference to the Cowboys, who pretty much own DFW no matter how good or bad they're doing.

No doubt about that... football will always be king in Texas.

I'd call them the Houston Aeros (despite there being a minor league team there with the same name). What would you guys call them?

Wouldn't be too hard to imagine since there are several sports teams that are named after past professional and/or present minor league teams.

Houston will never have an NHL team. End of story.
