Well, there are two incidents so that must equate to an epidemic. :/

Conroe is not Houston. It's a small bass ackwards (if you ask me) town north of The Woodlands. I wouldn't be surprised by any news of that sort coming out of that area. The further away from the city center you get, spiraling out in all directions, to some of the former rural areas, the more likely you'll experience racism. That should come as no shock.

In Pearland 200 students walked out in PROTEST of the noose incident, more than likely hung by some bored suburban teenager or stupid redneck, a truly uninspired copycat of what happened in Jena.

Not sure how either of these events support your claim that "there is much racism here."

I agree. There are some towns not too far from Houston that are extremely ignorant, backwards and stuck in the 1800's. Huffman, Crosby and Conroe come to mind. It is not fair to judge the entire Houston metro area based on those areas.

Sadly, racism and anti-antisemitism persists everywhere. Nooses where recently found on the door of a professor at Columbia U. Columbia in NYC. And swastikas were also found at Columbia a few weeks later.

Perhaps Pasadena of the past. Now Pasadena is majority hispanic.

There is racism in every state but, houston is beyond racist it is

disrespectful with all the confederate t-shirts, stickers, shot glasses which

can be found right at WILLOWBROOK MALL! which is located right in houston,

and it is filled with customers from all races and people just walk by like it's

nothing! And I am sure there are many other places you can find these

items. People try to justify it with christianity and oh I'm just a good-ole-

boy/girl in some kind of sick way. houston also needs to get off it's lazy ass

and learn how to ride bikes and recycle. (Texas refuses to let society play

the role of mother, father, government!) Then take your backward, silly

asses and go seperate since you don't want to be a part of USA! houston

is the what 6th, 7th largest city, millions of people and no dam subway

system. By the way why subways?(you learn how to interact with people

from different races and incomes) but no, not houston! Stay away from

houston and surrounding areas such as tomball, conroe, cy-fair, woodlands

and cypress!

First off, if there is confederate stuff, it most likely wouldn't be native Houstonians buying it, it would probably be someone from one of the surrounding places.

Second off, no one here is going to start riding bikes in the hot hot hot humid heat we have here, sweetie.

Third off, Houston can't build a subway because there is too much water in the soil to build one. The subway would collapse.

Fourth off, Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. Get it right.

Fifth off, it looks like you're the one who's backwards.

Ashley m was referring to metro Houston being 6th or 7th, which it is. I did find it quite odd not seeing bike lanes. I guess that's why you don't see many bike riders.
