Default neighborhhods with greenway/hiking/jogging trails nearby?

Hello Everyone,

We are considering moving to the Houston area in the summer. My husband would work in Angleton I think, but he is willing to commute up to 45 mins- 1 hour. We are looking for a nice neighborhood for our family. We have 3 young kids, 2 of them will be 1st graders, so, the good school is important for us. We also like outdoor activites very much, like hiking or biking with the kids. I run 5-8 miles three or four times a week. Are there good neighborhhods with good schools that are near to nice trails? I'd like to take the kids biking without having to worry about cars, crossings...

Are there any state parks or lakes where we can go hiking? What else could you recommend to do outdoors in the Houston area?

thanks for your advice

Check out Sienna Plantation. It is in Missouri City so the commute to Angleton shouldn't be bad, would definitely be a reverse commute. Sienna Plantation has walking trails, several parks and lakes, 4 community pools/waterparks (that I know of), etc.

I would look at the master planned communities in Pearland for the best commutes to Angleton. Shadowcreek has miles and miles of great trails around lakes. It's very pretty. You don't have to live in there, lots of pocket parks with parking that hook up to the system.

Sienna Plantation also has great trails! It's a little father and not on 288 so forget about going into Houston regularly unless you take the fort bend, but I think Pearland has enough great selection that it would fit your budget, wants, lifestyle.

I live in Southern Trails which is in west Pearland, just south of Shadowcreek Ranch. We have great hiking/running trails. Some of my neighbors work in Angleton or even further south. Their commute is pretty fast because they take Hwy 288 south, and are moving against the major traffic flow each day (which is north). Send me a PM if you want more detailed info. Good luck on your search.

Do not know what is down there but if you are working in Angelton and like the outdoors why not go south and live on the coast. Surfside Beach is only 30 minutes according to google.

Maybe someone else can chime in about good area on the coast.
