As far as I knew they were all set to start building back in September with a mid march opening date. I know it has all been approved by the city council. They must be waiting on permits or something else. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Hi,

I am just here checking in. Has anyone driven my the future Costco site and seen any construction progress being made? The store was supposed to open in March so I am wondering how the progress was going.

Thanks

Scott

I drive past it everyday. Still nothing except for an entrance street, or at least that's what it looks like.

It doesn't look like spring 2013 is feasible. Summer 2013 looks better.

I can't help but feel bad for the folks who bought homes in Telfair. They were promised a high school (now they are zoned to Kempner from what I know) and now with all the commercial development and a gas station nearby, those homes are plummeting in value (as per my conversation with homeowners and some realtors).

Its good we have a Costco but couldn't they have built it in Rosenberg or more towards the F.M. 1464 area (not on that road but over by the Travis HS area maybe?)

My observation is a total opposite to yours. No way Telfair home values are "plummeting". Conservatively speaking they are stable or even going up. Home sells very quickly and at good prices. Some even sold higher than asking price. From a buyer's perspective, buying a home in Telfair is getting very competitive.

I personally would *love* to live near a Costco.

Homes in Telfair are snapped up fast by (majority) Indian and Chinese buyers. And there is no way home values are plummeting. You are falsely exaggerating (no offense!).

Thanks for the update. If you see any movement at the site if you could let me know I would greatly appreciate it. It doesn't look like Spring of 2013 is happening.

Thanks
Scott

I read somewhere that proximity to a Costco INCREASES home value. Proximity to a Walmart is the reverse.

When I lived in another state, a Costco was built a couple miles away and when we sold our home, our real estate agent advised us to mention Costco in our sales material.
