Dayton ISD vs. New Caney ISD?
We're choosing between two homes, one in Dayton and one in New Caney. We are completely unfamiliar with both areas and school districts. Does anyone have any information or opinions on either school district? My kids are only 1 and 3, but we'll stay put once we buy our house. Thank you!

Both are similar districts. New Caney is growing fast, and will have two high schools in the next 5 years.

Sorry for the late reply. I personally would not recommend the New Caney area.
My husband grew up there and his parents live there to this day. The area has gone downhill the past 10 years. The school district is growing, but I know several members of my husband and my own families who have had bad experiences with it.
Dayton is much quieter and is growing as well. I think of the two I would choose Dayton over New Caney.

Dayton is the biggest school district in Liberty county, the only 4A school district. Every other district in county is 3A or smaller. New Caney is 4 or 5A, and is having problems handling the growth I've read. Dayton is growing too, not as fast as New Caney though. 3 Schools nearby I'll recommend is Tarkington ISD (immediately north of Dayton) usually rated the highest academically in Liberty County, or Conroe ISD's Caney Creek to the east and north of New Caney, or Barbers hill ISD (immediately south of Dayton).

New Caney schools are great! The people who have problems there are problem people! It has not gone down in the last 10 years, only up! Most of the newer ,better neighborhoods in Kingwood are in NCISD !Only insecure people try to build themselves up by trashing others!!!

New Caney has improved in the near past and looking to get better. My daughter lives in west county and goes to the Conroe school district, you may want to look at that option also. but i wouldnt be afraid of new caney ISD...

I teach in the New Caney ISD. We are the only TEA Recognized district in Montgomery County. I made the choice for my son to attend New Caney High School before I began teaching there and it was a great experience in all aspects. It is an excellent district and offers every opportunity for students to excel. We handle our growth very well. Drive around our district. You will see many new schools - not portable buildings. I can recommend the NCISD to any person without reservation.
