No point in worrying. The apocalypse has already come and frogs are raining down upon us.

I think that may happen before Houstonians lose the love affair or at least the tolerance for driving everywhere.

Never going to happen, Houston is too spread out. Once gas prices start going down to a reasonable level, all this talk about mass transit is going to die down. Even with high gas the study shows most people still don't ride the buses or the train.

Won't happen for me - I hate public transportation - it is a last resort for me. Now, that said, I walk places when I can or ride a bike (weather permitting).

If Houstonians quit loving their cars and Houston became a bike friendly, pedestrian friendly and mass transit friendly city...

1. People would lose weight, get healthier
2. People would find a new sense of calm
3. People would live longer because they aren't so stressed in their daily lives trying to DRIVE everywhere in HORRIBLE traffic
4. Insurance rates would go way down
5. Overall happiness would increase

Instead Houstonians are sadists who enjoy the torture of traveling on poorly maintained, overly congested streets and highways.

I wonder what the cost of housing for every would be. Also how densely would be be living to accomplish this utopia you just described.

^^how much does it cost to maintain the current status quo? As we and this article point out Metro is being raided for funds to pay for the car dependency.

One nice thing...as central Houston becomes more and more urban those on this group who love the suburban lifestyle will need to center their universe around their chosen heaven....Katy.
