And PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't throw that mower mulch away. Find an out of the way area in your back yard and toss it there. Keep it moist, stir it once in a while and, presto...black gold. Some of the best compost in the world, full of nitrogen, something most local soil is lacking in. Makes for beautiful roses.

As I said before those are not seeds. they look like seeds, act like seeds but St Augustine grass you cant get seed heads from. The University of Florida would flip out since they have the patents on St Aug Grass. Those are false seed heads that will never germinate from getting too mush P on your grass. N-P-K the root of all evil ( no pun intended) to much Phosphate produces false seed heads in ST Augustine grass. You can duplicate it over and over. When you get that it just shows you have over fertilized with the wrong combination.

Doesn't necessarily have anything to do with fertilizer. Its normal and usually takes place around June in Houston. It can sometimes also occur from stress. I know of several yards in my neighborhood that have never been fertilized and are full of seeding St. Augustine. Mine was last fertilized in March and is full of them as well.

And yes, they really are seeds but they are sterile.
