I love this park! I have been going for a week straight. Thank you city data! The lake is much larger than I anticipated. The walking trail around it is 1.97 miles. There are small trees planted every so many feet. I sure hope they grow fast because shade will be badly needed when things warm up. I thank the planners for having the foresight to even plant trees all the way around. We love the dog park (we use the small). The dog park for larger dogs is more hopping. Both the large and small dog park have a "beach" complete with sand where dogs have access to swim. Big dogs seem to love this. I don't think I have seen a small dog in the water yet. This lake seems to have drawn the attention of a large number of pelicans. So cool to watch these birds. After going to the dog park for a week straight, yesterday was the first day for "rule breakers". Children are not allowed to bring in bicycles, skateboards, scooters, etc. but they did yesterday and it was a little annoying. A lot of people and dogs walk on the trail within the dog park and they don't need to hear "look out, I'm coming" as a kid flies by on his scooter. Some large dogs came into the small dog park but they were very well behaved. There is ample parking. I'm not sure if the restrooms on the dog park side are open. They were unlocked last week but I haven't seen them unlocked since.

Someone asked about kayaks. I think that would be fun but I don't think it is allowed. Yes, only the dogs are allowed to use the lake. For everyone else, I think you are supposed to walk around or bike around and just look at it, lol. I encourage you to visit the park now because in a few months it will probably be too hot to enjoy it with the trees still being too immature to provide shade.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but Towne Lake's plan calls for a future harris county park just east of greenhouse rd in between longenbaugh and west, (although it doesn't connect between the two just yet). It may be that it's too early for them to put any documentation out on it, but can anyone shed any light on this if they happen to know anything regarding this new park?

LOL, let TL deliver on all the stuff they promised 4-5 years ago when they opened first before opening a park. I need some new restaurants!

I completely agree with you, although they've assured residents many times that they aren't cancelling anything, they're just developing at a slower pace to keep things in line with their originally planned annual project budgets. They are actually open to suggestions right now of whom they should be contacting for boardwalk tenants, so if you have any useful in mind for them to go throw a sales pitch after, please go to their website and email them or comment on the recent blog post asking what residents would like to see at the boardwalk.
