I am looking for good home insurance policy for my home in Houston. Currently, I am with Farmers but their deductible is 11K (11,000) which I think is crazy.

My house was $170,000 and it is built in 2000.

Any recommendations!

Look for an insurance broker. They'll be able to shop different rates. At the same time, reach out to Nationwide, Allstate, and many of the others.

Sounds like you have a 6% deductible. That's really high, did you request that?

Whoever you use do not let them insure you for more than what is needed. Anything over is wasted coverage and money from you. Some insurance writers hope you don't know better so they can get a few more extra dollars out of you (same goes for the amount of your deductible). Also, I'd get 2% over 1% but that's just me.

If you have a rebuild cost of 170k only insure it for that. That's factoring in land too but your land isn't going anywhere unless all the glaciers melt.
