Hehe, I've been waiting for tonight for weeks. Luckily, we have a pretty clear sky, so I took out my DSLR and my el'cheapo 500mm mirror lens, popped it on the tripod and got this shot.

Be sure to check it out. It will be at it's largest and brightest tonight only for the remainder of the year

I saw it.

I thought it looked a little bigger than usual but I can't ever tell if it's special or not.

Sometimes it will be closer so at quick glance it looked like those times.

Thanks, guys! Yeah, I bought the lens for this sole purpose....just haven't had luck on getting a good shot in the past few months. But, tonight was a perfect chance to get some shots...despite the pesky mosquitoes!

It's brighter out there for sure but doesn't look closer to me. Moon-set will be pretty good if you can actually get a clear view of the horizon.

Great picture BTW. Ch. 2 weather had a couple of sorry ones tonight-- I'll bet they'd like to have yours.

Wow! Very nice shot. Thank you for posting it. I went out a couple of hours ago and the moon was very bright but to me the surprising thing was that I noticed that I could still see the semi-blue sky but it was late at night here.

I took a few pics with a Canon SX230HS they did not come out to good the moon was way to bright to get any real good detail.
