We were just in Cali last week, and tried it again, still not worth all the hype.
I did a double-take thinking my wife was posting here - - although we go while in Dallas as well....

The Houston Chronicle sent a reporter to one in California not too long ago....they said it tasted like Whataburger....I went to Dallas and tried one and they were dead on....even had mine "animal style" which was nothing but Secret Sauce....lol

average fries, decent shakes....not worth waiting in line for......Cali folks swear by it and I don't see why

tried Carl's Jr. recently also...severely overrated...

Uhm, no. Not like Whataburger. If In-N-Out tasted like Whataburger, do you really think all the transplants would be so agitated about getting In-N-Out here?

the patty was slim like Whataburger, taste, everything...

all I want is a patty that is not shaped like a perfect circle that is seasoned

i love both, in n out and whataburger. lived in texas most of my life and LA a year. in n out does not taste like wb lol. the burgers are smaller and to me seem more fresh. the meat is a little thicker and juicer. i love the flavor and the sauce on top. their customer service and workers are a lot better than whataburgers too, but i still imo give the edge to whataburger and their burgers.

in n out will be huge here. out west, whataburgers aren't as big. even during lunch it's not packed with long drive thru lines how in n out or even chick fil a's are. whoever put carl jr into the mix and said severely overrated are correct. but, you can't put that burger place in the same ranking as in n out. carls jr is like a wendys or a burger king.

^^^^^^

What's so special? Idk what your taste is but some people think an amazing burger is something huge with all sorts of stuff in it. I think sometimes people question the quality of these burgers because they try and put it in a whole different class than what it is- a fast food burger.

these burgers taste good because of the freshness. Once you take a take a bite you can tell the difference from other fast food burgers. You aren't going to have a gourmet burger but in addition to the burger, the fries are made from potatoes you can actually see them slice up- all for $5. Compare that to other fast food places like five guys that cost up to $10 for a burger similiar in size. Thats something you could call special.
