For the most part, I think that's a reasonable plan. However, I think they should make an exception for service to IAH.
There is no excuse for America's fifth-largest metropolitan area not to have a decent rapid transit option to its major flagship international air gateway. NONE.

All METRO needs to do for the short term is:

1. reinstate the Airport Express and put it on the Hardy Toll Road (don't know if that was its route or not)

2. start a Quickline route on the existing 102 IAH with 3-4 limited stops between Greenspoint TC and the terminals
2a. and please widen Greens Road from Aldine Westfield to the 59. Absolutely NO excuse for it being a two-lane country road. (Tack on .25 for all IAH car rentals to pay for the widening, because rental cars WILL use it.)

I would love to have a nonstop rail connection between downtown and IAH. However, there' doesn't seem to be much energy in our political leadership for instituting that. Moreover, the abysmal ridership numbers for the Airport Express (in its latest incarnation, not to mention the earlier ones) doesn't seem to provide much support for it. However, the express bus ridership numbers were so low as to defy belief ... could they have have it so unattractive so as to repel even those who would have found it convenient?

Despite our experience, DART is spending a lot ($1.5 billion, I think) to extend their light rail to DFW. Kudos to Dallas and Dart, but if their line is a success, it will make Houston and Metro look pretty incompetent.

I say good riddance to them. United is a horrible airline. They have crazy baggage fees, high prices, less than mediocre food in flight and don't even have inflight wifi like other carriers.

In its pushback against Southwest's Hobby proposal, United emphasized that although it moved 1,500 corporate jobs from Houston to Chicago as part of the merger, it has added more routes and more capacity to Bush Intercontinental than any of its hubs since the merger.

As a result, United says, it still employs about 17,000 people in Houston - the same as before the merger - although a higher percentage of them are now flight crews, customer service agents and ramp workers rather than office employees.

17 K, that's a lot of jobs ! And SouthWest has what, a few hundred jobs in Houston and is only #6 in terms of flights ('bout 130 a day) in it's own network while Houston is United #1 hub for flights (well over 500).
I thought politicians always counted jobs, but apparently Parker can't count very good which is odd, wasn't she like a bookkeeper before running for office ?
Oh that's right, she's all about getting even with that mean old Mr Smisek, to hell with the jobs in Houston the mayor of Houston says. Say what !?

And yet, little ole Southwest has United peeing their pants in fear and running scared before the first shovel hits the soil in Hobby!!!
