We have standards as to who we'll let in.

Hard to say that we migrated from anywhere - more that we switched from a nomadic lifestyle to settling down. In any case, our last home prior to Houston this time was Bangkok.

Californians have been coming for so long I know many that have returned because Texas is just too different for them.

I drive a lot around town for work and for me the most common foreign plates I've seen lately are California, Missouri, New Mexico, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, and Alabama. Louisiana is another common one but I don't count it because its the closest to houston. I wonder is Oklahoma city is seeing this same kind of invasion as I've heard their economy is doing really well also.

There is also a HUGE influx of Latin American well-heeled individuals going to Woodlands mostly as a result of insecurity in the Mexican case, or as skilled foreign workers for the energy industry.

True. I moved here in 2003. Texas is very different from CA.

I always see CA plates at Whole Foods on Kirby.
That map linked in the 2nd post only shows data from the IRS. So no illegal immigrants, which I would guess would represent the largest group of inbounders. Poor, very little education...
