This is an old post but for future reference, I believe that was the McLendon Triple Drive-In. It was one of the several drive-in theaters owned by Gordon B. McLendon (1921–1986), radio programming innovator and sportscaster.

I loved Weiners! So many new clothes for school came from there. I'm still not over Macys being the new Foleys. I have 2 gift cards to Macys just sitting in my purse from 2012 unused. I just don't shop there.

Celebration Station was a childhood staple for me in the 90s. Shoot Airline skating rink when inline became big again in the 90s too back when it wasn't sketchy to drive down Airline. Skating to The Macarena 3 times an hour was "It"

Variety Fair 5 & 10 in Rice Village , Memorial City Mall : when it still had the moldy fountains and that damn fabric store my mom used to drag me into, the Heights before it was taken over with 'boutiques', and just Montrose in general.

Also the Alabama Bookstop, which was great for people watching. Even if you hated coffee, you could go grab a drink and snack at the whole foods next door then go take your place in the balcony to enjoy the free entertainment. When you were done with that (or bored watching the creepy guys getting shut down chatting up ladies looking at magazines) you could pop into Cactus to rent a movie for when you got back home.

* I know Cactus moved down the street; but for me it is just not the same

Montrose and westheimer before the transformation. It was the place to cruise when you are a teenager.

Airline skating rink (starlight?).

Fame City.

I miss the Eatzi's - especially that sandwich bar.

What ever happened to Eatzi's? It always seemed packed when I was there and then it closed down.

I'm young (25) so all I really remember is Weiners and Celebration Station. I got all my school clothes from Weiners and Celebration Station was the place to go as a kid. =(

I had heard rumors and speculation, but I still don't know the true reason.

I was once hopeful it would return, based on this article - EatZi's sends customers reeling with unexpected store closure - Houston Business Journal - but apparently, it might never return.

There are a few Marini's around, and owned by the family. The original was the best though. The one in Katy is really good.
