I will be working just inside the 610, off of the 73, I think.....or is it the 90 or the 10? Northwestern corner??? Looks to be just west of the 610 and west of Jacinto City. I will be moving my wife and 3 1/2 yr old son and 2yr old daughter there and we want I nice house in a great neighborhood. With the best schools. Where should I be starting? I am willing to commute up to 40 minutes for the right house and right schools. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Let's see.. price range for house - 200k - 350k please.
Thanks

I'd take a look at The Woodlands, north of Houston. You will have that commute, but worth it.

I would start with going to Moderator cut: commercial real estate link

You have the whole MLS on-line and it is better and more current than Realtor.com. Klein, Cy-Fair & Katy are all good school districts generally speaking. HISD has good schools too, you just have to investigate which one to go to.

Personally I am not one for the long commutes, and I like older homes, so I lean towards areas like Meyerland where you could have a short commute, be close to the great things the city offers, and still get good schools. You would be closer to the top of your price range there.

Woodlands, Montgomery County. 40 minutes?? It will take you that long to get out of your driveway!! LOL Houston traffic is worse than Los Angeles. At almost a standstill for 6 hours of the day. Texans do not like mass transportation, hence every one drives their own car to work, hence mass gridlock.

ohhh, traffic not THAT bad. I personally refuse to drive in it, but not as bad as LA.

Maybe Woodladns is a little too far though, true. Maybe look at Cypress area or the south part of spring?

I don't know randtbrown. At least the traffic in LA moves once in awhile. I have been in traffic on the loop on the west side where we didn't move for 30 minutes or so. The traffic is "not that bad", it is terrible.

wellllll, maybe you are right. I'm talking about something I don't know about first hand as of late because I stopped going into town. Road construction.....the same roads since I was BORN are still under construction!

randtbrown, you are so right. I can show you a spot on Highway 80 going into Dallas that has been under construction for at least 20 years. They finish one thing and then start another and never seem to accomplish anything.
