Victorian Houses
While considering our move from the UK to Houston, we've been looking at real estate, and all these huge fancy houses in the suburbs are very spacious and impressive, but looking at housing in the City, you find a number of beautiful Victorian houses - They look so elegant, and the scale of them is so homely. What I'd like to see is this style and size of American housing being built in the suburbs using modern building materials. I know that we'll end up with something suburban in the end.
Thanks for reading

What you are referring to is commonly referred to as a "Mocktorian." There was a time frame in the 80's when it became somewhat popular. There is an area out in Klein, I think it is called Shannon Forest, where they built a fair number of them.

There are a few Victorian homes in Kingwood. I purchased a 4/3.5 Tudor in Kingwood. Of note, at one point I lived in an actual 1872 Victorian in San Francisco with the original wiring.
Regarding Shannon Forest: here is a 'sort of' decent Victorian:

Here's a few Victorian properties. The first one is in Katy (Suburb of Houston) in an older established community called Williamsburg Settlement. Looking at the listing, it appears that the interior has many upgrades.
Then there's another community in Katy also - Nottingham. They have some Victorian and Traditional style homes. This too is an older established community with mature landscaping.

That's a hideously ugly looking so-so Victorian home, especially the last one - come on, that looks more like a Tudor. Yes, Houston Heights is where the real Victorian homes are, even most of the new ones.
Houston Heights is so unique that no other neighborhood in and around Houston has copied it.

Biker, I agree however the poster mentioned suburbs By far Houston Heights has the best Victorian properties, if the poster is willing to spend a minimum of half of million That'll buy him this

Hunter's Creek next to the Lakewood Forest subdivision has a number of nice Victorians.
For newer "vintage" style homes, you may check out the new village in Bridgeland, "Lakeland Heights" set to open next year that will follow the "New Urbanism" design principles. The first of its kind the Greater Houston metro:
Here are some other communities like this around the country:
Westhaven | Franklin | Brentwood | Nashville | New Homes
Vintage Township - Lubbock, TX Real Estate
New Homes Orlando - Baldwin Park Orlando Florida * Orlando Real Estate - Orlando Apartments, New Homes, Condos and Townhomes

The reproduction mocktorians in the second set are nice. The last one in the first set is more Tudor than Victorian and the other two in that batch, well........
