Just recently moved to Houston. I live near Medical Center. Most of what I need is surprisingly within a mile radius...but not a mall.

What are the good malls near me and which ones are not so good?

Depends on what your looking for. You've got Rice Village close by which has great stores to shop at but no department stores if that's what your looking for. If your looking for a traditional mall you'll probably want to go to Baybrook Mall. If you want the nearest mall with everything then there's the Galleria.

Galleria first, 15 min drive.

Then Baybrook, First Colony or Memorial City, 30 min drive... typical suburban malls, all of which are good.

I have to agree with others on here, the Houston Galleria is the closest and best place for you to go shopping. It is the largest mall in Texas and one of the largest in the country. I' am sure that you would find what you are looking for that mall.

Take the rail to the Downtown Macy's (or the cheaper 1-Hospital bus). The southbound rail station is right across the main entrance while the northbound station is a couple blocks past the store.

It's even open on Saturdays (but sadly not on Sundays). The hours are not super late like a mall, but at least it's open evenings!

I don't care for The Galleria. Parking is a pain. A lot of punk kids hang out there, and you have to put up with.

Galleria is probably the most ethnically diverse mall? What do you think?

Memorial City is the mini version of it.
