Me and my family are moving to Houston in August. We have a 2.5 year old daughter. I will be working at Grenspoint area. Please advise what areas can be considered for renting an apartment. Main criterias are mostly driven by a small girl:

Have you looked at apartments.com or rent.com? They're a good start. Wish I could help you with the area, but I don't live there so I can't comment. All the best for the move!

I would say no place near Greenspoint for sure. Off the beltway, I would look in the areas west of Hwy 249 towards Hwy 290 and the areas east of Hwy 59 in the Atascosita, Humble, Kingwood area. The Spring area further out I-45 is an option also. All of these areas are pretty much within the 30 min drive area.

Surely I will stay away from Greenspoint. Explored some complexes around Willowbrook mall. "Lighthouse" and "Tradewinds". Does anyone have a chance to hear something about it. I liked them. Now, the question is whether this is a good area to live?

So, we just moved to Houston ourselves, so I can't help with complexes, but you might consider using an apartment locator to help with your search. We had to rent an apartment sight unseen and used David Moore (
http://www.davidthelocator.com/ ) to help us-just told him what we wanted and he sent some options, helped us get a deal, etc.-all for no cost. So far so good with the complex we picked at a little over a week in
