There are only 2 within The Woodlands, Woodlands High School and College Park HS (both a strong 5A-student enrollment). Around the area, Oak Ridge is the closest and one of the high school in Magnolia ISD which is a little farther out.

As a high school student in Austin, I can tell you Woodlands has the most reach with regards to reputation. There are always a certain amount of high schools within the state that have statewide recognition and the Woodlands is one of them. I know it has a particularly strong music program there, so if you ask someone from Dallas or Austin who's in a music program, they know the Woodlands is a tough opponent. Not too familiar with the athletics program, but I'm sure its more than satisfactory. Academics there will also be high quality.

Huh? The Woodlands has top notch athletic programs as well as academics. This includes football.

I thought John Cooper a private high school was well thought of also. Correct me if I am off base or out of date

The John Cooper School is private pre-K through high school. It has a great academic and sports reputation but it can be difficult to get into (depending upon which grade your child is entering). It is costly and extremely competitive. One thing to note - TJCS does not rank graduating seniors. This is a big deal if you are hoping to get an automatic "in" to a State University via the TX top 10%. However, if you decide The John Cooper School is for you, we found the staff, faculty, and students extremely accepting of new families. It is diversified and the school celebrates differences in cultures.
