Just curious since it looks really nice and has a great location but I rarely here it mentioned. Usually people just say midtown. What are the pros and cons of living there?

One of the cons is it's really expensive. The few people I know who live there are old and rich. I'm not including the areas east of the rail line, which is less expensive and more sketchy.

I have friends who live there, in a TINY condo. They joke all the time about the cost per square foot being insane.

Damn. OK. I guess it's because the location is so nice. Of course midtown is right next door. Is midtown really that much cheaper?

There are some 75 year old apartments and duplexes in a triangle between So. Main and Montrose off Bissonnet. Don't know what they are now, but 15 years ago my daughter had one on a first year teacher pay. Large living dining, bedroom, bath and a tiny kitchen.

Midtown is not right next door to the Museum District. It is not close to next door.

I think it's cheaper, but aside from the location being next door, I feel it's an apple to orange comparison. I love the museum district (not necessarily the people) but dislike the midtown area. One feels quiet, gentrified, verdant, antiquated and snooty rich. The other is noise, dodgy, young and transitioning, filled in with concrete and crowded 3 story townhomes. Location wise, both are excellent. I'm sure you can find apts in the museum district that is reasonble, just not houses.

According to this map they are.

A map does not tell all. The heart of midtown and the heart of the Museum District are far from each other.
